Very silly, indeed...

It gets worse. My research suggests my trip will more likely be to the Ukraine, and from what I can gather I should instead be learning Russian.

So, now I must forget my two-dozen words of Polish I've so far mastered, and go for Russian instead. And these Russians don't even have an alphabet I recognise!

Oh, foolish me.

Still, I like a challenge.

My husband is fluent in Russian. If you need a conversation buddy, give him a call.

That's nice of you, Mercedes, thanks...

If I could figure out how to type Russian characters in I could even thank you in Russian!

I studied Russian for a little while in 9th grade. The alphabet is easy to pick up, pronunciation is dead easy too, and I don't recall the grammar being too challenging. Kind of like learning Spanish only with a different alphabet. Good luck!

Hi Doug...

Yes, it doesn't seem quite so daunting now I've started. It's just the panic at the first sight the Cyrillic alphabet!
